FAQ

Can I use Dr. Brewer for my primary care physician?

While Dr. Brewer is board-certified in Internal Medicine, she has elected to focus her time on the practice of Functional and Integrative Medicine and serves in a consultant role. She requests you maintain a relationship with your primary care doctor for routine screening exams.

Does honest wellness center accept medical insurance?

Dr. Brewer has elected to focus her time on developing a meaningful relationship with her patients rather than managing a relationship with insurance companies. Honest Wellness Center does not accept or bill insurance and our services cannot be billed to Medicare/Medicaid. However, we will provide a detailed “superbill” for the services performed and you can submit this to your insurance carrier. Many patients find their insurance company will reimburse them for an out-of-network visit. It is your responsibility to check with your insurance company to review the coverage rules. You may also use funds from an HSA (Health Savings Account) to pay for visits and lab fees.

Are the lab studies done at honest wellness center?

Laboratory testing is not performed at honest wellness center. We use a combination of conventional and functional medicine laboratory testing. Whenever possible, we’ll order conventional laboratory testing at a local lab such as LabCorp or Quest. Honest wellness center also uses state-of-the-art functional laboratory testing. Some of this testing involves collecting saliva, stool, urine or a bloodspot sample at home. Other times, you will be given a test kit to take to the local laboratory for a blood draw.

How much does laboratory testing cost?

The cost will vary for each individual patient. Many conventional laboratory studies are covered by insurance. Fees for functional medicine testing are collected at the time of your visit and many of these studies are partially covered by insurance. You will need to check with your insurance company about coverage. Together we will discuss testing options and review your financial resources and how much testing you wish to pursue. A wide range of studies can give a complete picture of your overall health, but many times we can develop an effective treatment plan without extensive testing.

What forms of payment do you take?

We accept check, cash, Mastercard, Visa and Discover. Funds from an HSA (Health Savings Account) may also be used.
